Center for Public Education Zine Library

Zines are self-published, counterculture media that are produced out of passion and not for profit. Crafted by zinesters, they are handwritten, hand drawn, copy and pasted together, and photocopied for distribution. Zines typically have a small circulation of fewer than 1,000 copies, and are often sold at low cost or given away for free. This exhibit contains examples of zines found in the Center of Participant Education (CPE) Zine Library at Florida State University. These zines focus on activism, feminism, personal narratives, and do it yourself (DIY) culture.
