Women's Bodies and Menstruation

The zinester strayed from the traditional zine making technique of handwriting the zine and photocopying it, and instead created the zine digitally by using a computer program. Zines as a medium have adopted with the technology, which allows zinesters more options to inexpensively create and widely distribute zines.

Zines are evidence of cultural resistance producing alternative media. Female produced zines often use the zine medium to distribute alternative information about female health. Fire Down Below highlights the environmental and health dangers of tampons and pads produced by the corporate feminine hygiene industry. The author additionally provides readers with alternative options, such as NatraCare tampons, The Keeper and Diva Cup, Instead softcup, and Gladrags. By providing this information and alternative options the author gives female readers empowerment to make their own decision regarding their health.
