Zinesters use the inexpensive method of photocopying handwritten pamphlets to make zines. Activist zines, such as this one, are used educate readers by sharing history and the stories of activism. A Commemorative History of The Minnehaha Free State and Four Oaks Spiritual Encampment presents a brief history of the Minnesota Dakota and tells the story of the Minnehaha Free State, the first urban anti-road occupation. When construction crews arrived to Minnehaha Park to begin leveling the forest for the construction of the new Highway 55 route, they were met with resistance. Non-violent activists and Natives Americans joined together to prevent the construction by forming the Minnehaha Free State and Four Oaks Spiritual encampment.
